Dental Receptionist
Oakmead Dental Practice | East Grinstead, West Sussex | Permanent | Full-Time
Looking for a role where you can make a real difference?
We are looking for a friendly, professional and enthusiastic Dental Receptionist to join our welcoming team at Oakmead Dental Practice in East Grinstead.
As the first point of contact for our patients, you'll play an important role in creating a warm, welcoming and professional environment. You'll be responsible for managing the reception area, welcoming patients, handling enquiries, booking and managing appointments, taking payments and supporting the wider practice team to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.
This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, with a 1-hour lunch break each day.
Working Pattern
- Monday: 8:00am-6:00pm
- Tuesday: 8:00am-6:00pm
- Wednesday: 8:00am-6:00pm
- Thursday: 8:00am-6:30pm
- Friday: 8:00am-6:00pm
Total working hours: 46.5 hours per week, excluding 1-hour lunch breaks.
About Oakmead Dental Practice
Oakmead is a welcoming three-surgery dental practice based in a small town in West Sussex, conveniently located close to the local train station, making us easily accessible by public transport.
Our practice is a converted house, with all three surgeries located on the ground floor, creating a comfortable and accessible environment for both our patients and colleagues.
We pride ourselves on creating a friendly and supportive atmosphere where patients and colleagues feel valued. Our team works collaboratively to provide high-quality patient care, while supporting each other to develop and maintain high standards across the practice.
About The Role
As Dental Receptionist, you'll be an important part of the front-of-house team, helping to ensure every patient receives a positive experience from the moment they arrive.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming patients to the practice in a friendly and professional manner.
- Answering telephone calls and responding to patient enquiries.
- Booking, managing and confirming patient appointments.
- Managing the reception area and ensuring it is welcoming, organised and professional.
- Taking payments and handling financial queries.
- Maintaining accurate patient records and updating information where required.
- Liaising with clinicians and the wider practice team to ensure the smooth running of the day.
- Supporting patients with queries regarding their appointments and treatment.
- Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence.
- Supporting the practice with general administration and day-to-day tasks.
- Maintaining patient confidentiality and following data protection requirements.
- Working as part of the wider team to deliver an excellent patient experience.
- Supporting the practice in maintaining a high standard of customer service at all times.
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- Friendly, approachable and professional.
- Confident communicating with patients and colleagues.
- Organised and able to manage a busy reception environment.
- Reliable, proactive and able to work independently.
- Comfortable using computer systems and learning new software.
- Able to remain calm and professional during busy periods.
- Passionate about providing excellent customer and patient service.
- A positive team player who enjoys working collaboratively.
- Well presented and confident dealing with patients face-to-face and over the telephone.
- Able to commit to the full-time Monday to Friday working pattern.
Previous dental reception experience would be advantageous, but is not essential. We would also welcome applications from candidates with strong customer service, administration, healthcare or reception experience who are keen to develop their career within dentistry.
