About the Role
Costain have won extensive work across the water sector this year to support the AMP 8 investment cycle. We have been appointed by United Utilities as one of 7 partners to the Enterprise, delivering £5.5bn of projects in the Asset Management Period 8 (AMP8) between 2025 – 2030, and AMP 9 (2030 – 2035). Our scope is to provide project management, design, construction and commissioning services on design and build schemes throughout the North West and Cumbria region covered by United Utilities. Projects vary in value, covering both infrastructure and non-infrastructure assets on water and wastewater sites with wider Enterprise partners.
The role will be full-time and site/office based in Wigan.

Responsibilities
- Take ownership and responsibility for the reception area, ensuring a seamless service for both staff and visitors alike.
- Always provide excellent customer service.
- Provide a well-organized visitor management service via Envoy online VM system.
- Field inbound business calls and distribute/transfer to relevant departments or persons within the business.
- Meeting room bookings and management on request.
- Log service calls and assist in the reporting of maintenance or health and safety issues.
- Ensure security arrangements are efficient and effective.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Essential
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Hands-on experience with office equipment (e.g. fax machines and printers)
- Professional attitude and telephone manner
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
- Excellent organisational skills
- Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks
- Customer service attitude
Desirable
- Proven work experience as a Receptionist, Front of House Representative, or similar role
Qualifications
Does not need to be a driver, but must be able to get to and from office.
