Job Overview

Band 2 Receptionist – Paediatrics

24 hours per week | 12-month Fixed-Term Contract

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the friendly and dedicated Paediatrics team at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust as a Band 2 Receptionist.

As one of the first points of contact for our patients and their families, you will play an important role in creating a welcoming, friendly and supportive experience. You will be part of a busy team, helping our clinics run smoothly and ensuring that patients receive an efficient, professional and caring service.

What will you be doing?

You will be responsible for the day-to-day reception service within the department, including welcoming and assisting patients and families, supporting busy clinics and working closely with colleagues across the Trust.

A key part of your role will be developing and maintaining positive and effective working relationships with clinicians, nursing staff, Directorate administration teams and other Trust colleagues.

Main duties of the job

  • To greet every patient in a pleasant, professional, and calm manner, directing the patient to the appropriate area.
  • To encourage patients in a polite manner to use self-check in machines where applicable, assisting as appropriate.
  • To deal with patients in a polite and respectful manner complying with their requests where possible and where it is not possible to deal with them with dignity and respect.
  • To develop and maintain effective working relationships with all Trust staff including clinicians, nursing staff and Directorate administration staff to provide an accurate, efficient, professional, and seamless service to patients and visitors.
  • To ensure all blood forms are available before the commencement of the clinic.
  • To check patient details are correct and amend or update details on EPIC, when necessary, in accordance with standards set by Information Governance.

Essential criteria

  • GCSE English and Maths pass or equivalent.

Experience

  • Experience using Microsoft packages including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience working in a busy environment.
  • Experience working in an office.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
