Receptionist

Bristol Hospital | Customer | Permanent | Full Time |

£25,038 per annum

37.5 hours per week

This role requires flexibility to work across a rota covering reception services. Shifts include: 06:30-14:30, 08:00-16:00, and 12:00-20:00pm.

Nuffield Health is Britain's largest not-for-profit healthcare organisation. Join us as a Receptionist at our Bristol Hospital and play your part in delivering an exceptional experience for every patient, visitor, and consultant who walks through our doors.

As the first point of contact for our hospital, you will provide a warm and professional welcome while supporting both the Main Reception and Outpatients Department. This is a varied role that combines exceptional customer service with administrative support, helping to ensure every patient journey runs smoothly from arrival through to departure.

We are looking for a customer-focused and organised individual who enjoys working with people and thrives in a busy environment. You will play a key role in creating a positive first impression of the hospital, supporting patients, visitors, consultants, and colleagues while ensuring the efficient day-to-day operation of reception services.

As our Receptionist, you will:

  • Help patients, visitors, and consultants feel welcome, comfortable, and supported when they visit the hospital.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service, using empathy and professionalism to build positive relationships with patients and colleagues.
  • Support both the Main Reception and Outpatients Reception areas as required.
  • Welcome patients in person, directing them to the appropriate waiting areas, departments, and facilities.
  • Answer telephone calls, respond to enquiries, and action requests in a professional and timely manner.
  • Book, amend, and confirm appointments using hospital systems.
  • Register patients accurately, ensuring personal, insurance, and billing information is up to date.
  • Process patient payments and card transactions in line with hospital procedures.
  • Prepare and manage clinical paperwork, referral forms, charge sheets, patient packs, and terms and conditions documentation.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and complete administrative tasks including scanning, filing, and data entry.
  • Work closely with consultants, clinical teams, and administrative colleagues to ensure clinics and departments run smoothly.
  • Manage competing priorities while remaining calm, professional, and focused on delivering an excellent patient experience.
  • Handle confidential information in accordance with hospital policies and data protection requirements.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
