Dorchester Vets for Pets is looking for a receptionist to join their team!

We are a team of four vets, six registered veterinary nurses, and four receptionists - we are looking to add one more dedicated, compassionate colleague to our team! The practice is purpose-built with some great facilities including an operating theatre, two dedicated consult rooms, a nurse consult room/diagnostic imaging room, dental equipment, and in-house lab equipment.

The Role

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills - both to clients and colleagues, face to face, over the phone, or via other communications. It is a varied role, with duties including:

  • Booking appointments
  • Dealing with general enquiries
  • Taking payments
  • Filing
  • General administration
  • Some cleaning duties
  • Interacting with clients at potentially trying times

Ideally looking for someone to join us part-time, of 20 hours per week with some flexibility in exact hours and rota to fit around you.

Key Attributes

  • Friendly, professional, and enjoys working in a collaborative team environment
  • Self-motivated, punctual, and organized with a keen eye for detail
  • Able to provide excellent client service and be able to demonstrate your commitment to delivering high standards in all aspects of your role
  • Experience within the veterinary profession is desirable, but not essential, or experience in a similar customer-facing role
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and confident with every-day mathematics
  • IT literate, able to use/adapt to computer packages quickly
