Front of House Receptionist
We are looking for a warm, professional and enthusiastic Front of House Receptionist to join our team at Marcliffe.
As the first and last point of contact for many of our guests, you will play a key role in delivering the exceptional, personalised service for which Marcliffe is renowned. You’ll welcome guests with genuine warmth, anticipate their needs and ensure every stay is handled seamlessly from arrival to departure.
What you’ll be doing
- Delivering an exceptional 5-star guest experience throughout every stage of the guest journey.
- Managing smooth and welcoming check-ins and check-outs, including groups, golf, weddings and events.
- Looking after VIP guests, arrivals and departures with care and attention to detail.
- Responding confidently and professionally to guest requests, queries and complaints.
- Maintaining excellent knowledge of the hotel, local attractions, activities and the surrounding area.
- Keeping up to date with room occupancy, rates, promotions, offers and packages.
- Working closely with Housekeeping and other departments to ensure rooms and guest requirements are ready on time.
- Taking all incoming Hotel bookings accurately and efficiently.
- Handling reservation calls professionally and ensuring the correct rates are communicated.
- Completing basic cashier duties and maintaining accurate records.
- Gathering and communicating guest feedback to the Front Office Manager.
- Providing a detailed and accurate handover to the next shift.
- Maintaining a tidy, organised and well-stocked reception and back-office area.
- Working in accordance with all hotel policies, health & safety, security and fire regulations.

About you
You’ll be a naturally warm, personable and confident communicator who enjoys creating memorable experiences for guests.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has a genuine passion for exceptional customer service.
- Presents themselves professionally and takes pride in their appearance.
- Has a positive, can do attitude and enjoys working as part of a team.
- Can remain calm, organised and professional in a busy environment.
- Has excellent attention to detail and strong time-management skills.
- Communicates confidently in spoken and written English.
- Is comfortable working independently and taking responsibility.
- Has a minimum of two years’ reception or customer service experience.
- Ideally has experience within a 4- or 5-star hotel environment.
