Receptionist / Administrator (4–6 Week Temporary Contract)

Pay: £14.30 – £14.90 per hour, including holiday pay

Location: St Ives, Cornwall

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday

Contract: Approximately 4–6 weeks

Start Date: ASAP

Are you an experienced administrator with excellent customer service and organisational skills? This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established organisation in St Ives on a short-term basis, providing essential support during a period of transition.

Carrington Wood is working on behalf of their client to recruit a Receptionist / Administrator to provide continuity between a departing member of staff and the appointment of their permanent replacement. This is a varied role combining reception, customer service, administration, meeting coordination and executive support.

What You'll Be Doing

  • ✔ Welcoming visitors and providing a professional reception service
  • ✔ Managing telephone, email and face-to-face enquiries, ensuring they are dealt with promptly and professionally
  • ✔ Providing general administrative support, including post, filing, records and office supplies
  • ✔ Supporting diary management, appointments and the organisation of meetings
  • ✔ Preparing and distributing meeting papers, agendas, reports and other documentation
  • ✔ Maintaining accurate databases and administrative records
  • ✔ Supporting communications, including website updates, newsletters and notices
  • ✔ Assisting with events, consultations and wider engagement activities
  • ✔ Providing general administrative and executive support to senior members of the team
  • ✔ Handling confidential information appropriately and maintaining a high level of professionalism

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience within administration, reception, customer service or a similar office-based role
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A professional, approachable and customer-focused manner
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Confident using Microsoft Office, email and general IT systems
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A proactive, flexible and reliable approach
  • Availability to start at short notice is essential
