The Fife Psychology Service provides a range of lifespan services to address unmet psychological needs and to promote wellbeing for the population of Fife. This is a large and growing service, comprising a team of 187 psychologists and 27 management and administration staff, providing a wide range of clinical, operational and business supports.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Receptionist/Typist who will predominantly be lone working but be embedded within the wider Psychology administration team, providing reception and typing support and ad hoc clerical and office duties as directed. Excellent keyboard skills and experience of working in an office environment are essential. The postholder will be based at The Bruce Suite, Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline, but may be required to travel to and work from other locations from time to time.
Existing permanent employees must first discuss this opportunity with their substantive line manager. The secondment policy can be found here. If you do not have approval for a secondment from your current line manager, you will not be able to progress your application for a fixed term post. External applicants, with continuous NHS Service, must also have in place a secondment agreement, from their existing board to apply for this post.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

As part of the pre-employment checks for a preferred candidate, NHS Scotland Boards will check your entitlement to work in the UK. Important Note on AI Usage
AI tools like ChatGPT or Copilot can be great for planning and preparing your application but your answers must be your own.
- Show us the real you: Your application should reflect your skills, experience, and motivations authentically.
- Use AI wisely: It’s fine to use AI for ideas or to check spelling and grammar, but don’t let it write your answers.
- Why this matters: Applications that rely on AI-generated content may be withdrawn. By applying, you confirm your responses are based on your own knowledge and achievements.
Tip: Think of AI as a helper, not a substitute. We want to understand you not an AI tool.
