Who are we?
Newmedica is one of the leading providers of NHS-funded ophthalmology services in England.
- Our Purpose is to make a positive difference to people’s lives.
- Our Vision is to change lives through better sight and eye health.
We provide services for NHS CCGs, NHS Trusts and Foundation Trusts, and other providers of NHS funded services. We deliver thousands of patient interactions annually, including outpatient appointments, diagnostic testing and eye surgery. Our services are delivered through a variety of models including Managed Services and Ophthalmology Joint Venture (OJV) Partnerships.
Purpose of the Role
Our Clinic Receptionists are the face of Newmedica – they’re often amongst the first people that our patients interact with on clinic visits, therefore, having a welcoming, friendly, empathetic approach is vital.
Our Clinic Receptionists check in a high volume of patients each day, update their information and assist with booking future appointments and the answering of any queries using a variety of different systems. The thought of eye surgery can be a daunting prospect for patients to deal with, so our Clinic Receptionists need to be able to put patients at ease. They also need strong communication skills, to be able to explain the purpose of the different tests and help the patients understand their treatment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
