Summary of Your Role

Are you a team player who wants to make a positive difference in your local community? If this is you, come and join the team at Cedars Youth and Community Centre. As a Receptionist / Duty Officer you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of a first-class customer experience to all customers that visit the Centre. Whilst coordinating bookings you will build relationships with centre customers and play a key role in developing the centre.

Your Roles and Responsibilities, but Not Limited To

  • Providing high quality customer service.
  • Ensuring that customer records are accurately kept up to date both manually and electronically.
  • Utilise the management booking system for customer bookings, payment collection and diary management purposes.
  • Promote the centre to current and prospective customers/community groups to help the team increase income streams.
  • Support the Centre Manager with the day-to-day running of the centre.
  • To actively promote the centre and the various activities on offer, including holiday courses, birthday parties, young people activities, etc.
  • To support the fitness aspects of the gym and to be able to fully engage with users.
  • To deal with booking enquiries for the Centre effectively, receive and record accurately all cash/cheque/credit card takings using the Xn Leisure system.
  • Memberships, both gym and social, are maintained effectively and accurately and inductions arranged when necessary.
  • To assist with the ‘set up’ of activities for external users.
  • To assist with catering requirements for external hirers and the layout of catering.
  • To understand the requirements of the local community. To promote activity programmes that will service the needs of the local Meriden community.
  • To open up / close the Centre ensuring all procedures are correctly followed.
  • Support the Centre Manager collate relevant reports as requested.
  • Carry out all meaningful tasks, when so asked to do, by the Centre Manager.
  • To actively promote the Trust in a positive and professional manner.
  • Maintain an ‘office tidy’ environment.
  • To champion Watford Welcomes values and contribute to all Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) activities. You must have:

  • Proven work experience as a Duty Officer, Front Office representative or similar role
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent Customer service attitude and interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively to build and facilitate strong internal relationships.
  • Able to work under pressure, prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
  • Good organisational, planning and time management skills with attention to detail and accuracy when completing tasks.
  • Flexible approach to working hours
  • Understanding of the Trust commitment to EDI & Safeguarding
