Hello, we’re Starling

We built a new kind of bank because we knew technology had the power to help people save, spend and manage their money in a new and transformative way. We’re a fully licensed UK bank with the culture and spirit of a fast-moving, disruptive tech company. We’re a bank, but better: fairer, easier to use and designed to demystify money for everyone. We employ more than 3,500 people across our London, Southampton, Cardiff and Manchester offices.

We are now looking for a Reconciliation Specialist to join our team in the Treasury Operations, where you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy of the Bank’s cash and suspense accounts while safeguarding customer balances. In this position, you will be responsible for actively managing and swiftly resolving transaction breaks to maintain financial integrity. Beyond day-to-day operations, you will also drive continuous improvement by helping to streamline, automate, and strengthen our daily reconciliation processes.

This is a 12 month fixed term contract, running from November ‘26 - ‘27.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performing daily reconciliations of cash and suspense accounts across domestic and international payment schemes.
  • Investigating, tracking, and resolving customer transaction breaks and ledger discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Collaborating with Payments, Engineering, FinCrime, and Treasury Back Office teams to ensure correct payment posting and entry clearing.
  • Taking direct ownership of reconciliation issues, ensuring prompt escalation of outstanding items.
  • Coordinating and assisting internal bank teams with investigations and efficient incident resolution.
  • Actively seeking to improve processes, workflows and reconciliation automation.
  • Identifying and driving improvements in risk controls.
  • Maintaining existing and creating new procedural documentation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
