LGC’s Grant Management Group (GMG) works with UK government departments and arm’s-length bodies to support medical and health research across the UK. We manage research funding calls, contracts, and intellectual property. We collaborate with participants across academia, the NHS, government, and industry to help improve health and healthcare in the UK and internationally.
Job Description
We’re seeking a Records & Information Governance Manager to join us on a 12-month fixed-term contract to design and integrate a functional Records Management Framework, enabling colleagues to grasp how information is to be managed, retained, and discarded. You’ll also contribute to wider information governance efforts, such as GDPR, DPIAs, Subject Access Requests, and privacy documentation.
This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in records management, a strong knowledge of GDPR, and a proactive, self-driven approach!
The role is based in Twickenham with hybrid working, with office attendance built around team and operational needs.

- Build and implement a Records Management Framework aligned with the new NIHR Records Retention Schedule.
- Review and handle the retention, disposal, digitisation, and transfer of physical and digital records.
- Partner with senior collaborators and Information Asset Owners to integrate effective records management into daily work routines.
- Bring information governance to life by delivering practical training, advice, and mentorship to colleagues.
- Maintain Information Asset Registers and clear audit trails to demonstrate compliance.
- Assist with essential data protection tasks, including DPIAs, Records of Processing Activities, privacy statements, and Subject Access Requests.
- Help develop information governance policies and respond effectively to data protection incidents and breaches.
Qualifications
- Relevant experience in records management, information governance, data protection, information assurance, or a related area.
- Strong working knowledge of UK GDPR and data protection legislation.
- Practical experience of records retention and disposal and a good understanding of the information lifecycle.
- Knowledge of areas such as file plans, naming conventions, document migration, and digital/physical record storage.
- Confidence working with and influencing senior collaborators.
- Strong organisation, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Comfortable handling your own workload, asking the right questions, and constructively challenging when something doesn’t look right.

Additional Information
- Salary: £40,300
- Location: Twickenham, London – Hybrid
- Contract: 12-month Fixed Term Contract, Full Time
- Working hours: 7.5 hours per day
- Annual leave: 25 days plus UK public holidays
