About the department
The Information Governance and Compliance Team is responsible for ensuring the SRA's compliance with the requirements of data protection legislation, as well as helping to ensure that the business follows good records and information management practice.
The role
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Records Manager to lead our records management function within the Information Governance and Compliance Team and who will serve as a subject matter expert and key lead on Records and Information Management.
This is an important role in shaping how information is managed across the organisation, ensuring compliance, improving efficiency and supporting our wider strategic objectives.
As the organisation's subject matter expert for Records and Information Management, you will provide specialist advice and guidance on the management of both electronic and paper records. You will oversee records retention and disposal practices, support business and IT change initiatives, and work closely with colleagues across the organisation to embed best practice records management principles.
This is a varied and hands-on role where you will work with stakeholders at all levels to identify opportunities to improve how information is created, managed, stored, accessed and disposed of. You will help drive the maturity of our records management approach by maximising the use of existing technologies, including Microsoft 365, SharePoint and Purview compliance tools, while ensuring compliance with organisational policies and regulatory requirements.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
