About the Role
We are currently seeking to appoint a Recovery Coordinator to provide holistic, person-centred support to adult service users entering the service. The postholder will coordinate treatment pathways, including assessment, coordination of clinical treatment, psychosocial interventions and group-based recovery interventions, alongside multi-agency working, to support individuals in achieving sustainable recovery.
A key part of the role will be planning, facilitating and developing recovery-focused groups and activities, creating safe, inclusive spaces where service users can build confidence, develop new skills, strengthen social connections and learn from shared experiences.
Working under the direction of the Team Leader, the Recovery Coordinator will be an integral member of a dynamic, multi-agency team, contributing to the development and delivery of high-quality recovery-focused services.
Our friendly, recovery-focused team provides support to adults affected by drug and alcohol use. We work alongside service users to help them develop new skills, access training and volunteering opportunities, and, when ready, move towards employment. Group work and peer-based activities are an important part of helping individuals stay active, build confidence, develop recovery capital and maintain their recovery.
What You’ll Do
- Manage a caseload of service users, regularly reviewing ongoing care and treatment and liaising closely with specialist workers, family members and significant others where appropriate.
- Plan, prepare and facilitate a range of structured and recovery-focused groups, ensuring sessions are accessible, engaging, inclusive and responsive to service user needs.
- Use group facilitation skills to encourage participation, build confidence, promote peer connection and support positive behaviour change.
- Work in partnership with service users and colleagues, undertaking joint key working to support progression from semi-structured to structured psychosocial interventions, including group-based interventions.
- Support service users to access appropriate resources and services to build recovery capital, enabling them to achieve personal recovery goals and promoting service user, family and carer involvement.
- Contribute to the development and evaluation of group programmes, using feedback and outcomes to continuously improve the offer.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and therapeutic skills when working with individuals, groups, carers and partner agencies.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across the partnership and external organisations, providing advice and guidance to managers and colleagues through reviews, team meetings, group supervision, and telephone support.
- Coordinate individual recovery plans effectively, ensuring they are person-centred and promote family, carer and service user involvement.
- Contribute to improving outcomes for children of service users by reducing the impact of drug- and alcohol-related harm on family life and promoting positive family engagement in treatment.

To Succeed in This Role, You’ll Need
- Experience of working with adults with substance use or complex needs.
- Strong understanding of recovery-oriented practice.
- Experience or confidence in facilitating groups, workshops or structured activities, with the ability to create an inclusive and supportive group environment.
- Ability to engage a diverse group of participants, manage group dynamics and encourage participation from people who may be less confident or reluctant to engage.
- Ability to work effectively within a multi-agency and multidisciplinary environment.
- Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
- A compassionate, non-judgemental approach and commitment to supporting recovery.
- Ability to develop engaging group content and adapt sessions according to the needs of participants.
