We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Recovery Motivator to join our North Lancashire team on a fixed-term basis. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with lived experience of substance misuse who is committed to helping individuals, families and communities access support and achieve their recovery goals.
Where
North Lancashire Service - Based across St Annes, Fleetwood and Lancaster (1 day per week at each base)
Working Hours
22.5 hours per week (3 days per week)
Contract Type
Fixed Term Contract of 6 Months
Full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles, the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours.
Responsibilities
The Recovery Motivator role is designed to bring lived experience, hope and inspiration to people affected by drug and alcohol misuse. You will be a welcoming and consistent presence within our services and local communities, helping people access support, build confidence and develop positive recovery pathways. Based on the content of the Job Description, the role focuses on community engagement, peer support, signposting and promoting recovery opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a welcoming and supportive presence within open access service areas.
- Build positive relationships with individuals, families and communities affected by drug and alcohol use.
- Use your lived experience to inspire, motivate and support others in their recovery journey.
- Signpost individuals to relevant services, support agencies and community resources.
- Help develop peer support and mutual aid opportunities.
- Engage with people who may be isolated or not currently accessing mainstream services.
- Support individuals to identify and achieve their personal recovery goals.
- Attend team meetings, supervision and training to develop your skills and knowledge.
- Promote recovery-focused activities and act as a positive ambassador for the service.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to data collection requirements.
- Work in line with safeguarding procedures, policies and professional boundaries.

- Lived experience of drug and/or alcohol misuse.
- A genuine passion for supporting others in recovery.
- Understanding of local communities and the challenges people face.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good organisational and administrative skills.
- A calm, empathetic and non-judgemental approach.
- Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Flexibility to work across multiple locations.
