This is the job
As our Optimisation Manager, you’ll play a key role within Recovery Operations, using data, technology, and operational insight to identify opportunities that improve customer outcomes, operational performance, productivity, and cost efficiency. Working across Recovery Operations, Control Tower, and key Business Partners, you’ll turn complex data and emerging trends into clear, commercially focused recommendations that help us work smarter and make better decisions.
You’ll look at both current and future demand, developing modelling and decision-support tools to identify opportunities and help shape future ways of working. From understanding operational challenges and their root causes to supporting the implementation of solutions, you’ll make sure improvements deliver measurable and sustainable value for our customers and the business.
What will I be doing?
- Identifying opportunities to improve customer outcomes, operational performance, productivity, resource utilisation, and cost through data and insight.
- Analysing operational performance, demand, capacity, and emerging trends to highlight opportunities, risks, and areas for improvement.
- Translating complex data from multiple sources into clear, actionable insights and commercially focused recommendations.
- Using AI, BI, automation, and analytical tools to strengthen decision-making, reduce manual activity, and improve operational efficiency.
- Developing modelling, forecasting, and decision-support tools to help stakeholders assess scenarios and make informed decisions.
- Leading optimisation activity from problem definition and root-cause analysis through to solution design, implementation, and benefits evaluation.
- Measuring the impact of optimisation and change initiatives to ensure expected benefits are delivered and sustained.
- Supporting operational forecasting and future-state design by combining expected demand with performance trends and operational insight.
- Building strong relationships across Recovery Operations, Control Tower, and key Business Partners to identify and deliver improvement opportunities.
- Challenging existing processes and ways of working, using evidence and insight to influence stakeholders and drive meaningful change.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
