We are Hestia. We make a difference.
At Hestia, we are guided by our core values and are dedicated to fostering an equitable, diverse, and inclusive organisation. Our mission is to empower individuals to rebuild their lives and achieve independence. Right now, we are looking for a Recovery Worker to play a pivotal role in our Thanet Crisis & Recovery House.
Sounds great, what will I be doing?
This role is at the heart of supporting people through periods of mental health crisis, providing compassionate, person-centred support from referral and admission through to discharge. You will work closely with residents to understand their strengths, needs, goals, and risks, developing personalised wellbeing, safety, and recovery plans that help them stabilise and move forward. Through one-to-one and group support, you will use a range of non-clinical, trauma-informed, and psychologically informed approaches, including emotional support, active listening, problem-solving, safety planning, recovery planning, and practical assistance. You will empower residents to build on their strengths, develop independence, strengthen social connections, and access community resources that support their ongoing recovery and wellbeing.
As a Recovery Worker, you will exercise professional judgement to respond to residents' changing needs, providing calm and effective support during periods of heightened distress while maintaining a strong focus on safety and recovery. You will support people experiencing a range of complex challenges, including severe mental health difficulties, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, psychotic experiences, and substance misuse, using de-escalation and other appropriate non-clinical interventions. Working within the boundaries of the role, you will assess risks, develop and review safety plans, collaborate with external agencies, and escalate concerns when specialist, clinical, or emergency intervention is required. You will also play an important role in helping residents develop practical life skills, prepare for discharge, and create sustainable plans for maintaining their wellbeing and independence beyond the service.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
