Everyone Active is looking for a new Leisure Team Member Apprentice to join their team. This 12-month work-based program will provide on-the-job training and off-the-job learning, leading to a Level 2 Leisure Team Member qualification.

Requirements

  • GCSEs in Maths and English (grade 4)
  • Strong swimming skills are essential; candidates must be able to complete a swim test during the interview process:
    • Jump or dive into deep water
    • Swim 50 metres in no more than 60 seconds
    • Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back in deep water, then tread water for 30 seconds
  • Effective communication skills
  • Customer care skills
  • Organisational skills

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a team to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the leisure centre
  • Supervise poolside activities and ensure customer safety
  • Assist in the setup and delivery of fitness classes and group activity sessions
  • Provide excellent customer service to all members and visitors
  • Maintain cleanliness and operational standards across all facilities
  • Support reception and administration teams when required
  • Learn to be an effective communicator with team members
  • Embrace company values and contribute to a motivated team
  • Learn to deliver high customer service standards
  • Maintain high levels of cleanliness and housekeeping
  • Ensure equipment setups are completed safely and on time
  • Undertake operational housekeeping of the leisure facility, including assembling, dismantling, routine maintenance, cleaning, and opening/closing procedures.
  • Monitor customer use of equipment and ensure their safety, intervening as necessary.
  • Comply with legal requirements for safety, security, and well-being (e.g., Equality Act, HSE Act, COSHH, RIDDOR, Safeguarding, Data Protection).
  • Use IT systems, including front-of-house systems, social media, and digital channels.
  • Perform duties of a swimming teacher, delivering lessons across various abilities and promoting swimming opportunities.
  • Perform duties of a lifeguard, including safe supervision, accident prevention, and rescue techniques.
  • Perform duties of a gym instructor, including inductions, consultations, assessments, and delivering safe exercise programmes.
  • Plan activity sessions using suitable techniques.
  • Undertake pre-activity screening and health and safety checks.
  • Lead groups using appropriate communication and instructing styles, applying suitable group management techniques.
