Life Science Executive Search Consultant (PhD) – Cranmore Life Science

Belfast (hybrid) | Full-time

Have you got a PhD in the life sciences and found yourself more interested in the people behind the science than the bench itself? This could be the move for you.

Cranmore is a boutique executive search firm specialising in life sciences and biotech. Founded in 2014, our partners bring over 20 years of experience in life science search. We find senior leaders for everyone from early-stage, VC-backed start-ups to FTSE 100 companies, across the UK, Ireland, Europe and the US. We're now looking for a scientist to join us as a search consultant.

Why a PhD?

Credibility matters in this job. When you're speaking with a Chief Medical Officer or a CEO, being able to understand their work, ask the right questions and judge technical depth makes all the difference, with the candidates you're assessing and the clients you're advising. Your scientific training gives you that from day one. We'll teach you the search side.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
