Billing Manager

Birmingham (west) | £40,000 - £50,000 + Commission & Team Override

Being a good recruiter doesn’t automatically make you a good manager. And being a good manager isn’t about following someone else’s framework.

This is a proper player-manager job.

You’ll inherit a team of five recruiters. Three are experienced, two are rookies. You’ll continue billing yourself, but the bigger opportunity is taking responsibility for what that team becomes.

There’s already a serious platform underneath you.

The business specialises in technology recruitment, with desks covering areas like UX/UI, Software Development and Data. It’s also benefiting from the enormous investment going into data centres globally.

You don’t need to come from any of those markets.

They care far more about whether you understand recruitment, people and how to build a genuinely good niche desk than whether your LinkedIn network happens to contain the right job titles.

Because they don’t want somebody who manages through a framework.

They want somebody who can look at a market, understand where the opportunity is, create a strategy around it and then get their team to believe in it and execute it.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You’ll need to be strong-willed enough to do that.

It won’t always be an easy job. You’ll have experienced recruiters who need managing properly, rookies who need developing differently, and your own desk to look after.

But you’ll have proper backing.

You’ll work underneath somebody who is on course to personally bill around £1m while managing a team and helping grow the wider business. They’ve previously taken rookie recruiters through to earning more than £100,000 within two years.

There’s also dedicated L&D support, so developing your people doesn’t fall entirely on you.

And the earning potential reflects the extra responsibility.

The team should continue growing as well. Four rookies are recruited every six months and go through a proper training and onboarding process elsewhere first. They only come into your team once they’ve proven themselves and passed probation.

So you’re not expected to spend your life teaching somebody how to send their first LinkedIn message.

You’ll also gradually take on successful rookies as they come through the business's training programme, giving you the opportunity to build a much larger team around you.

And importantly, you’ll still recruit.

You’ll understand the fundamentals of building and running a recruitment desk, developing people and creating a strategy around a specialist market.

What You’ll Get

  • Up to £50,000 basic salary (depending on your billings)
  • Personal commission on your own billings
  • Existing team of five
  • Regular pipeline of trained rookies to grow the team
  • Dedicated L&D support
  • Modern recruitment technology and admin automation

You don’t need to write a cover letter explaining your management philosophy.

And if your CV is three years out of date, I really don’t care.

Send me the old one, send me your LinkedIn profile, or just message me and tell me what you’re doing now.

We’ll work the rest out later.
