Recruitment and Admin Executive (NYC Hiring - 2 Month Project)
London - London HQ, Marylebone
Hybrid - 3/2 split
Salary: £25k–£28k
Join the team shaping the future of retail. At Smartech, we believe retail should never be boring. We’re the destination for discovery, where customers can explore, try, and play with the newest innovations in tech, gaming, and e-mobility. Our teams across London, New York, Rome, and Berlin bring the world’s most exciting brands to life through immersive, experience-led retail. As we continue to scale globally, the strength of our stores depends on the strength of the people working in them – and right now, our New York store is our top hiring priority.
This is your opportunity to join a fast-growing, energetic, international company on a focused, high-impact project – and to directly shape the team that brings Smartech to life on the ground in NYC.
About the Role
We are looking for a driven, high-energy Retail Recruiter to join us on a initial 2-month project basis (with potential to extend) and take full ownership of recruitment for our New York retail store. This role is 100% focused on NYC store recruitment – primarily Sales Representatives – with the goal of urgently building a strong, reliable pipeline and closing hires quickly. You will sit in our London HQ and work NYC hours (a combination of HQ-based and home working to align with the New York time zone), partnering closely with our Talent Acquisition Manager, US Store Manager, and wider Talent team. If you thrive on speed, ownership, and seeing your work translate directly into people on the shop floor, this project is for you.
Objectives of the Role
- NYC Retail Recruitment (Primary Focus – 90%)
- Own end-to-end recruitment for the NYC store, with a primary focus on Sales Representatives and other store-based hires as needed.
- Build, run, and continuously improve a reliable sourcing pipeline using LinkedIn, job boards, social channels, referrals, and direct outreach – reducing reliance on external agencies.
- Write and post compelling job adverts tailored to the NYC retail market and Smartech’s brand tone.
- Screen, qualify, and shortlist candidates against the role brief, and present a strong, decision-ready shortlist to the US Store Manager and People Manager.
- Schedule and coordinate interviews across NYC and London time zones, ensuring a smooth, professional candidate experience from first contact to offer.
- Manage and update the candidate tracker daily – keeping pipeline status, stages, and next steps clearly visible to the wider team.
- Liaise with hiring managers and candidates to keep momentum, chase feedback, and close hires quickly.
- Support offer management, including drafting offer details and handing over cleanly to the HR team for contracts and onboarding.
- Track and report weekly on key recruitment metrics: applications, interviews, offers, hires, time-to-hire, and cost-per-hire vs. agency benchmarks.
- Continuously feed back market insight from NYC – salary expectations, candidate availability, competitor activity – to help us stay competitive.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- HR & Talent Team Support (Secondary – 10%)
- Work closely with the People Manager and HR & Recruitment Executive to ensure consistent processes, documentation, and candidate data across the US team.
- Support handover of new hires into onboarding, ensuring HR has accurate records and start dates for the NYC team.
- Liaise with hiring managers and candidates to ensure a smooth experience aligned with our wider Talent processes.
- Flag any employee relations or compliance considerations during recruitment to the HR team for follow-up.
About you
You’re a high-energy, results-driven recruiter who loves the buzz of retail and the urgency of a project-based hire. You’re comfortable working autonomously, taking full ownership of a pipeline, and being measured on hires made – not hours worked. You communicate clearly with candidates and hiring managers, work well across time zones, and treat candidate experience as part of the brand. You’re organised, proactive, and motivated by the chance to prove what an in-house recruiter can deliver vs. an agency.
