Your new office

Reading is a key part of the Thames Valley economy and often described as the "Silicon Valley of the UK," with a thriving mix of global corporates, SMEs, and startups. Our Hays Reading office is proud to support an enviable client base across this dynamic market.

Centrally located right by the station, the office was fully refurbished just 2-3 years ago and offers a modern, bright, and collaborative environment. It's one of the largest offices in the South region, home to a 16-strong, multi-specialism team known for energy, cross-learning, and strong support.

The team recruits across Technology, Finance, HR, Marketing, Business Support, and Procurement, with experience ranging from 6 months to nearly 30 years. With a culture that celebrates success and an office continuing to grow, it's an ideal environment for ambitious individuals looking to accelerate their career.

The Opportunity

What can I expect day to day?

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced consultant to join one of our fastest-growing teams in the South, based in Reading.

You'll be stepping into a high-value Software Engineering desk where you'll continue to nurture long-standing relationships and place in-demand, highly skilled professionals across a large geography. We're looking for a commercially astute individual to grow an already established and profitable business, placing Back-end professionals into key roles across the region.

As a recruitment consultant, you will gain exposure to a range of different activities whilst being supported by a structured training and development programme from day one. Some of your main responsibilities may include:

  • Source, interview, and match high-quality candidates to roles
  • Identify and proactively partner with new and existing clients through new outreach and business development calls to build better, profitable outcomes by understanding their hiring needs and challenges
  • Manage the recruitment process by guiding candidates and clients through the full recruitment process from taking a brief to negotiating offers
  • Be bold and curious, developing specialist market expertise by actively seeking to understand your customer's market
  • Take accountability for meeting targets and delivering your monetary goals that contribute to the growth and profitability of Hays
  • Be part of a vibrant and inclusive culture that cheers on progress by celebrating personal and team performance
