Job Opportunity: US Consultants at Hernshead
Overview
Recruiters in the UK average around £6k a fee. Our average US fee is £30k. That's the same calls, the same process and the same hours, for five times the reward. If you're a good recruiter grinding for small fees, you don't have a talent problem. You have a market problem.
Hernshead is hiring US Consultants, based in the UK and working US hours, alongside one of our experienced US billers. There are two ways in.
Routes
Route 1: 360 US Consultant (experienced)
You already know how to bill. The question is whether the market you're billing in will ever pay what you're worth. This is your chance to move proven UK skills into a market where one placement can be worth five.
- Run your own US desk: clients, candidates, process and P&L
- Walk into a warm market with more client demand than the current team can service
- Work alongside an established US biller rather than starting from zero
You'll need a track record of billing £200k+ a year, regularly, in a 360 role.
Route 2: 180 Delivery Consultant (6–12 months' experience, or a sharp grad)
You've worked out that the part you enjoy is the candidate side: finding people nobody else can, running a tight process and getting the deal over the line. This role is pure delivery, with no cold BD and no chasing new logos.

The Hours (US time zones, UK-based)
- Monday to Thursday: 10:00am – 8:00pm
- Friday: 10:00am – 3:00pm
Part-time and flexible patterns are open to discussion for the right person, but 2:00pm – 8:00pm UK time is core and non-negotiable. That's when our clients and candidates are working.
