About L.Knighton

L.Knighton is a specialist search firm operating across Hedge Funds, Commodities and Quantitative Trading markets. We partner with leading investment and trading businesses globally, helping them identify and hire high-performing traders, portfolio managers, quants and technologists.

We are a lean, ambitious business operating in some of the world's most sophisticated financial markets. We are now hiring several entry-level Recruitment Consultants (Research Associates) to join our growing team.

This is a commercial career for ambitious people who want a steep learning curve, significant responsibility and the opportunity to see their progression and earnings move directly with their performance.

About the Opportunity

We hire ambitious people early in their careers and give them the training, responsibility and earning opportunity to build something significant quickly.

  • You will develop into a specialist recruiter and salesperson, learning how sophisticated financial markets operate while building relationships with some of the most successful and intellectually demanding professionals in the industry.
  • Over time, the objective is for you to develop deep expertise in a specialist market, build a valuable professional network and ultimately take ownership of a commercially valuable market of your own.

Unlike a traditional corporate graduate programme, there is no fixed timetable for progression. Strong performance can lead to meaningful responsibility considerably faster.

The Role Itself

You will research specialist financial markets, identify high-performing individuals and build relationships with them directly.

You will learn about their careers, understand what motivates them and advise them on relevant opportunities with our portfolio of global clients.

As your experience develops, you'll take increasing ownership of your market, clients and relationships.

The role involves:

  • Identifying the most talented individuals across specialist financial markets.
  • Building relationships with senior professionals across hedge funds, trading firms and quantitative investment businesses.
  • Speaking directly with candidates and clients to understand their requirements, motivations and objectives.
  • Presenting relevant career opportunities to senior individuals and influencing their decisions.
  • Managing recruitment processes from initial conversation through to interview, negotiation and completion.
  • Developing your expertise in a specialist financial market.
  • Building towards ownership of a commercially valuable global market segment.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Direct outreach, including phone conversations, is a core part of how we build relationships and create opportunities. You'll therefore need to be comfortable initiating conversations and developing the confidence to engage directly with senior professionals.

  • Progress quickly - operate in a lean business where strong performance can translate into responsibility much faster than in a traditional graduate programme.
  • Build something significant - join L.Knighton's growth journey at an early stage and have a meaningful impact on the business as it expands.

What You'll Learn

You do not need previous recruitment or financial markets experience. We will teach you.

From your first few weeks, you will learn how hedge funds, trading firms and quantitative investment businesses operate, how to identify and assess specialist talent, how to build relationships with senior professionals and how to manage a recruitment process from beginning to end.

You will also develop a highly transferable commercial skillset:

  • Prospecting and business development
  • Communication and influence
  • Negotiation and closing
  • Relationship management
  • Market research and analysis
  • Commercial judgement
  • Personal accountability and performance management

The goal is to develop you into an exceptional commercial operator who can understand a market, create opportunities and build valuable relationships.

Training & Development

From day one, you'll work directly with the founder of L.Knighton, receiving one-to-one coaching across commercial thinking, market knowledge, communication, negotiation and performance. Our training combines in-depth market education with regular feedback, live coaching and hands-on support across every key area of the role.

You will receive the guidance, feedback and practical experience needed to develop quickly - with your development driven by the quality of your performance rather than simply by time served. As you progress, you will move from learning the fundamentals to taking genuine ownership of your own market, relationships and commercial results.

Career Potential

Because of the meritocratic nature of the role, recruitment is one of the few early-career commercial careers where high performers can build substantial earnings relatively quickly.

We have case studies internally of individuals reaching multiple six-figure total compensation within less than two years of employment. This kind of outcome is not typical or guaranteed. Rather, it reflects exceptional individual performance. However, it shows the level and speed of the opportunity available to someone who develops the skills, discipline and commercial ability to perform at the highest level.

For the right person, the opportunity is therefore not simply to get a first job in recruitment. It is to build a highly valuable commercial skillset, develop a serious professional network and create a materially different financial trajectory than typical slower-evolving career routes.

Who We're Looking For

We are less interested in a particular degree or previous industry experience than in the raw attributes that predict success in a high-performance commercial environment.

You might be:

  • A recent graduate with strong evidence of ambition, competitiveness or personal achievement.
  • Working in telesales, business development or an SDR position.
  • From a direct, field or face-to-face target-driven sales background.
  • From a professional environment where you have generated your own clients or revenue.
  • An early-career recruiter looking for greater responsibility, greater investment in your development and faster career progression within a higher-value marketplace.

The strongest applicants will be:

  • Confident and comfortable initiating conversations.
  • Financially motivated and intrinsically driven to succeed.
  • Resilient when faced with rejection or setbacks.
  • Competitive, disciplined and consistent.
  • Coachable and receptive to direct feedback.
  • Accountable for their own performance.
  • Comfortable operating in a target-driven environment.
  • Willing to put significant effort into accelerating their development.
  • Motivated by a career where earnings and progression reflect results.

If this sounds like you, we look forward to receiving your application.
