I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
What you'll be doing day to day?
This is a full recruitment role, not simply candidate sourcing.
You’ll learn how to manage the complete recruitment lifecycle, including:
- Speaking with businesses to understand their hiring requirements
- Building relationships with hiring managers and decision-makers
- Sourcing candidates through LinkedIn, databases, advertising, networking and referrals
- Interviewing and qualifying candidates
- Building your own specialist candidate network
- Matching people to the right opportunities
- Preparing candidates for interviews
- Managing interview processes, feedback and offers
- Developing existing client relationships
- Identifying and approaching prospective new clients
- Attending client and candidate meetings
- Managing your own vacancies, pipeline and targets
As your experience grows, you’ll take increasing ownership of your own market and client relationships.
No recruitment experience? That's ok
This programme is designed to develop someone with potential, rather than find somebody who already knows everything.
You might be:
- A recent graduate (ideally)
- Someone with 6–24 months’ sales or customer-facing experience
- From hospitality, retail, sport or another target-driven environment
- Simply looking for your first serious commercial career
Your background is less important than your mindset.
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Ambitious – you want more than just a comfortable first job.
- Resilient – recruitment involves rejection, setbacks and competition. You’re capable of bouncing back.
- Confident – you’re comfortable speaking with new people and influencing conversations.
- Commercial – you’re interested in business, sales and earning based on performance.
- Competitive – targets motivate you rather than scare you.
- Personable – you can build genuine relationships rather than simply follow a script.
- Organised – you can manage multiple candidates, clients and priorities.
- Coachable – you want feedback and are prepared to act on it.
- Driven – you understand that the people who progress fastest are normally the ones prepared to put the work in.

What could your career look like?

- Business development
- Revenue
- Your own specialist market
You’ll build valuable skills across:
- Sales
- Negotiation
- Communication
- Business Development
- Networking
