Insurance is one of Spinnaker's growing business areas. We are looking for a Recruitment Consultant ideally with some recruitment experience who wants to take their next challenge in the world of marine and maritime insurance.

You do not need previous maritime recruitment experience. We are looking for someone who understands recruitment, enjoys business development and relationship building, and is motivated by the opportunity to develop genuine expertise in a global niche. This role could also suit an ambitious graduate that is looking to break into the industry.

What you will be doing

  • Recruit across the marine insurance market, working with insurers, brokers, P&I clubs, shipowners, and other maritime organisations.
  • Manage the full 360 recruitment lifecycle: business development, client management, candidate sourcing and qualification, process management, negotiation, and placement.
  • Develop new client relationships while helping grow existing accounts across Spinnaker's international maritime network.
  • Build specialist candidate networks across underwriting, broking, claims, loss prevention, risk, and other marine insurance functions.
  • Work closely with Spinnaker's Legal, Commercial, Technical, and Executive Search teams where client and candidate markets overlap.
  • Develop into a recognised specialist in a relationship-led international insurance market.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Who we are looking for

  • Some Recruitment experience would be advantageous but we are also open to an ambitious recent graduate.

  • A strong 360 and business-development mindset, with evidence of winning clients, generating vacancies, or developing repeat business.
  • Strong client and candidate relationship-building skills.
  • Commercial confidence, resilience, and the willingness to create opportunities rather than rely solely on inbound work.
  • An organised, consultative approach with strong communication, influencing, and negotiation skills.
  • A genuine interest in learning the maritime industry and building a long-term specialism.
  • Ideally local to, or able to work from, our Leigh-on-Sea headquarters.

You do not need

  • Previous shipping or maritime recruitment experience.
  • An existing marine insurance network.
  • Detailed knowledge of P&I or shipping before joining.
