Trainee Contract Recruitment Consultant
Swindon | Monday to Thursday in the office
£28,000 basic salary plus commission of up to 30% of billings
Are you successful in sales but looking for a career where you can build something of your own? rmg Digital is looking for a commercially driven salesperson to join our team and develop a growing contract recruitment desk.
You don’t need previous recruitment experience. We’ll teach you how to source specialist contractors, manage recruitment processes, understand compliance and build long-term relationships across the technology industry.
What you do need is confidence, resilience and the willingness to pick up the phone, create opportunities and win new business.
About rmg Digital
rmg Digital is a specialist digital recruitment agency based in Wiltshire. We recruit across software engineering, data, AI, product and design for technology businesses throughout the UK and Europe, ranging from high-growth start-ups to established organisations. We work across permanent and contract recruitment, helping our clients build long-term teams and access specialist talent for projects, transformation programmes and urgent delivery requirements.
Led by our two founding directors, rmg has built a strong reputation within the digital and technology market. We have ambitious growth plans for the next five years and want to hire someone who is looking to build a genuine long-term career with us.
The opportunity
This isn’t a role where you’ll simply be handed vacancies to fill. You’ll work with rmg’s existing clients while also identifying and winning new contract opportunities of your own.
rmg already has established relationships across technology, product, design and data. You’ll build on those relationships, uncover upcoming projects and increase the number of contractors working through the business.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone with a proven sales background who wants greater ownership over their career and earning potential. You’ll need:
- A track record of working towards and achieving sales targets

- A genuine interest in business development and winning clients
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Resilience and the ability to handle rejection
- A consistent work ethic
- Commercial awareness
- A willingness to learn and respond to coaching
- The motivation to earn commission and build a successful desk over time
Experience in B2B, telephone-based or solution sales would be particularly relevant, although we’re open to people from other sales environments. Exposure to technology, software, digital services or professional services would be helpful but isn’t essential.
The type of person who will succeed
This role will suit someone who enjoys sales but wants more ownership over what they’re building. You’ll be comfortable creating opportunities rather than waiting for leads. You’ll enjoy asking questions, building relationships and understanding what is happening inside a client’s business.
