I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

I'm working with an established specialist recruitment business in Manchester that's looking for another recruiter to join its five-person Wealth Management team.
You don't need to be a £300k biller. And you don't need Financial Services experience.
This could be particularly interesting if you're currently recruiting across Commercial, Office Support, Business Support, Professional Services, or broader Financial Services and feel you've reached the point where you want to become known for one market rather than covering several.
You'll work alongside the Director who leads the Wealth Management team, recruiting from existing client relationships and live vacancies whilst developing your own portfolio.

They're particularly interested in recruiters with around 2 to 4 years' experience, although someone earlier in their career with good 360 exposure and clear commercial ability could also be considered.
They're looking for someone who's doing well, has some stability behind them, and believes the right environment could take their performance considerably further.
If that sounds familiar, apply or send me a message. I'll happily talk you through the desk, team, and commission structure confidentially.
“It took my CV and asked me questions relevant to understanding what kind of jobs to suggest for me. Suggestions were almost perfect. Jobs were exactly what I’ve been looking for.”
