You don't need recruitment experience.
You do need ambition, confidence, curiosity and the desire to become genuinely good at what you do.
About One Way
One Way has been recruiting across the construction industry since 2005. We're independently owned, established and still ambitious about where we go next.
We're looking for people who want to build a proper commercial career with us.
You may already work in sales, property, automotive, hospitality, account management, customer service, construction or another people-focused environment.
Or you may simply know you're capable of more than your current role is giving you.
We're more interested in your potential than whether you've worked in recruitment before.
What is recruitment?
Recruitment is a sales career built around people and relationships.
You'll speak with businesses about the people they need, find and engage candidates, develop relationships, negotiate, solve problems and ultimately build a network and market of your own.
Some days you'll win. Some days you'll hear no.
You'll need to be comfortable picking up the phone, starting conversations and following opportunities.
The better you become, the more responsibility you'll get and the more you can earn.
What you'll be doing
You'll learn how to:
- Build relationships with new and existing clients.
- Find and engage candidates using our database, job boards, LinkedIn and other technology.
- Make outbound calls and create new business opportunities.
- Understand clients, their businesses and the construction projects they're delivering.
- Manage candidates from initial conversation through to placement.
- Negotiate rates and fees.
- Develop your own network and market.
- Use CRM, data, AI and technology to work intelligently and efficiently.
- Manage your own pipeline and commercial targets.
- Become someone clients and candidates genuinely trust.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
You won't be expected to know all of this on day one. We'll teach you.
Who we're looking for
We're not particularly interested in a perfect CV.
We're interested in the person behind it.
Someone who is curious, driven, adaptable, commercially minded, resilient, good with people, comfortable with technology and willing to keep learning.
You don't need to be the loudest person in the room. Good salespeople listen as well as they talk.
You do need the confidence to make things happen rather than wait for them to happen.
What you'll get from us
- Competitive basic salary.
- Uncapped commission and genuine earning potential.
- Structured training and support.
- Experienced recruiters and business leaders around you.
- Modern recruitment technology, CRM, data and AI tools.
- Clear expectations and measurable targets.
- Genuine responsibility as you develop.
- Career progression based on ability and performance.
- The opportunity to develop your own client and candidate network.
- Hybrid working once you've completed your initial training and demonstrated that you can perform effectively.
Why are we initially office based?
Because we believe you'll learn faster.
Recruitment involves conversations, negotiation, judgement and problem solving. Sitting alongside experienced people means hearing how they handle calls, objections, clients and difficult situations.
