I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Every day your agent scans the market matching roles against what actually matters to you, not just keywords on a CV.
Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
This isn’t a role where you’ll spend every day sitting behind a desk. We want someone who is comfortable getting out into the local area, meeting businesses, and creating opportunities.
Working Pattern
The position is 3 days a week, with your week split between office-based work, telephone sales, and visiting customers.
You’ll also have the opportunity to work from home one day per week, providing a dedicated admin day to update your pipeline, send quotations, follow up meetings, and plan your activity for the week ahead.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Confident speaking to businesses both over the phone and face-to-face
- Comfortable approaching new customers and generating their own leads
- Motivated by targets and winning new business
- Organised and able to manage a busy sales pipeline
- Persistent without being overly pushy
- Professional and comfortable dealing with decision-makers
- Able to build strong, long-term business relationships
- Self-motivated and capable of planning their own sales activity
Previous experience in B2B sales, recruitment, transport, logistics, account management, or business development would be advantageous, although we’re more interested in finding someone with the right attitude, confidence, and drive.
A full UK driving licence is required due to the amount of face-to-face customer activity involved.
What We Offer
- Competitive basic salary
- Attractive commission structure rewarding new business success
- Monday to Friday working
- No weekend working
- One work-from-home/admin day per week
- Support from an experienced existing office team
- Direct support and guidance from the franchisee
- Established Driver Hire brand and reputation
- Genuine autonomy to develop your own territory and customer base
- Opportunity to build a successful long-term career within the business
