Salary: £22,400 per annum (£28,000 FTE)
Hours: 30 hours per week (4 days)
Contract: Permanent
Location: Bristol
Travel: Some travel to other offices and events

Are you passionate about people, community engagement, and creating meaningful opportunities for others? We're looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Volunteer Coordinator to join our People team and help grow, support, and celebrate our incredible volunteer community.

Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. In this role, you'll oversee the entire volunteer journey, ensuring volunteers feel valued, supported, and empowered to make a real difference. From recruitment and onboarding through to engagement, development, and recognition, you'll play a key role in strengthening and expanding our volunteer programme.

Working closely with managers across the organisation and alongside the Head of People, you'll help shape the future of volunteering, ensuring our programme remains inclusive, effective, and aligned with organisational goals.

Key Responsibilities

As Volunteer Coordinator, You Will

  • Manage the full volunteer lifecycle, including attraction, recruitment, onboarding, induction, training, engagement, and recognition.
  • Act as the main point of contact for volunteers, providing advice, support, and guidance.
  • Work with managers across the organisation to identify volunteer opportunities and support effective volunteer management.
  • Develop initiatives to increase diversity and reduce barriers to volunteering.
  • Build relationships with community groups, educational organisations, and local networks to attract and engage volunteers.
  • Maintain accurate volunteer records, compliance documentation, and reporting data in line with GDPR requirements.
  • Coordinate volunteer communications, events, recognition programmes, and development opportunities.
  • Monitor and analyse volunteer data, including recruitment, retention, and diversity metrics, to drive continuous improvement.
  • Support the development and implementation of volunteering strategies with the Head of People.
  • Provide support to the wider HR and Recruitment team when required.

About You

We're looking for someone who can build positive relationships and inspire others. You'll ideally have:

  • Experience coordinating or managing employee lifecycle.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Experience reviewing and improving processes.
  • The ability to coach, support, and influence managers and colleagues.
  • A proactive, solution-focused approach with a passion for driving positive change.
  • A genuine commitment to volunteering, community engagement, and helping people thrive.
  • A willingness and ability to travel across the South West when required.
