Graduate / Trainee Recruitment Consultant: US Markets

Start Date: October 2026

Location: Blackfriars, London, EC4Y 0DS

Working: Office-based with hybrid working available

Start Your Career with X4 Group: Build Your Market from the Ground Up

Are you driven by results? Do you want a career where your effort is rewarded, your earning potential is uncapped, and you're not competing with hundreds of established consultants for the same accounts?

At X4 Group, our US Markets desk is one of the biggest opportunities in the business right now. It's a less saturated market than our European desks, which means more open ground, more untapped clients, and more room for a driven trainee to build a name and a client base fast, with average fees per placement of £26,000-£30,000. If you want a career where output speaks louder than experience, and where getting in early actually matters, this is it.

No previous recruitment experience needed. We hire for drive, attitude and results-focus, and we'll give you the training to turn that into a genuinely lucrative career on a desk with real headroom to grow.

The Role

As a Graduate / Trainee Recruitment Consultant on our US Markets desk, you'll get structured training from day one and quickly start taking on real ownership across the full recruitment process, in a market where the client relationships and candidate networks are still there to be won.

You'll build expertise across:

  • Building and managing relationships with US clients and candidates.
  • Sourcing top talent through LinkedIn Recruiter, networking, referrals and market research.
  • Interviewing candidates and getting under the skin of what drives their careers.
  • Owning the recruitment process end-to-end, from brief to successful placement.
  • Developing new business and building your own client portfolio in a market with significantly less competition for accounts.
  • Negotiating salaries and offers with confidence, on deals that carry some of the highest average fees in the business.
  • Delivering sharp market insight, salary benchmarking and competitor analysis.
  • Becoming the go-to expert in your specialist market before it gets crowded.
  • Delivering a first-class experience for every client and candidate.

As you prove yourself, you'll take on more of your own clients, candidates and market. Because the US desk is still developing, the accounts and relationships you build early become yours to own and grow.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Who We're Looking For

No recruitment experience required. We want people who perform under pressure, thrive on a challenge, and are driven to deliver results in a fast-paced, target-driven environment, and who like the idea of getting to a market before everyone else does.

You might be:

  • A recent graduate or finishing university.
  • Looking to make your first move into a professional career.
  • Coming from sales, retail, hospitality, customer service, or another performance-driven environment.
  • Someone who's motivated by building relationships and hitting clear targets.
  • Driven by progression and serious earning potential, with an eye for a market that hasn't been fully worked yet.

We're looking for people who are:

  • Ambitious and relentless in going after their goals.
  • Resilient, you take a setback, learn from it, and come back stronger.
  • Confident communicators who thrive working with people.
  • Organised, self-motivated and hard-working.
  • Naturally competitive, with a real appetite to deliver results.
  • Coachable, hungry for feedback and always looking to improve.

Training & Development

Your first role sets the foundation for your whole career, and we treat it that way. You'll get an industry-leading Learning & Development programme, backed by experienced coaches, L&D professionals and your wider team. Your development includes:

  • Structured training from day one.
  • Recruitment and industry-specific training.
  • Sales and business development coaching.
  • Candidate sourcing and LinkedIn Recruiter training.
  • Interviewing and candidate assessment.
  • Negotiation and objection-handling.
  • Client relationship management, with a focus on building the US market.
  • Ongoing coaching and mentoring.
  • Clear targets and regular performance reviews.

Our goal: turn you from a trainee into a high-performing recruitment professional who delivers consistently at the top of the market, and who's built a genuine stake in one of the best-value desks in the business.

Career Progression

We believe progression should be earned through performance, not clocked up through time served. Prove yourself, and you'll move up fast, with the added advantage of doing it on a desk where the ceiling hasn't been set yet.

  • Graduate / Trainee Consultant → Recruitment Consultant → Senior Consultant → Leadership / Management
