Rector Position at The London Academy for Global Advancement (LAGA)

The London Academy for Global Advancement (LAGA) invites applications from distinguished academic, professional, or institutional leaders for appointment as Rector.

About LAGA

LAGA is a UK-registered, multidisciplinary, independent, not-for-profit professional and intellectual academy based in London and operating globally. It advances knowledge, leadership, innovation, and societal progress through research-informed practice, policy engagement, professional development, and international collaboration.

Role Overview

The Rector will serve as LAGA’s senior institutional and intellectual leader, providing strategic direction and representing the Academy within international academic, professional, policy, and institutional networks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and intellectual leadership for LAGA
  • Guide the development of programs, partnerships, conferences, and policy initiatives
  • Promote institutional credibility, visibility, and international engagement
  • Chair or participate in senior leadership and advisory meetings
  • Support relationships with universities, professional bodies, policymakers, and partner institutions
  • Encourage multidisciplinary research, professional advancement, and societal impact
  • Represent LAGA at selected international events and engagements
  • Uphold strong standards of governance, ethics, and institutional integrity

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • A doctoral degree or equivalent distinguished professional standing
  • Senior leadership experience in academia, industry, government, civil society, or an international organization
  • A strong record of scholarship, professional achievement, policy contribution, or institutional development
  • Established national or international professional networks
  • Excellent communication, diplomacy, and strategic-leadership skills
  • Commitment to LAGA’s multidisciplinary and internationally focused mission

Position Details

This is a voluntary, non-salaried executive appointment with flexible, primarily remote responsibilities. The successful candidate will receive a formal appointment letter and institutional recognition. LAGA is a professional and intellectual academy and does not currently operate as a degree-awarding university.
