Recycling Advisor – 7 Month Contract
Location: Tottenham Hale, London
Rate: £23.09 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract: 7 Month Contract
Hours: Full Time
Working Pattern: Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00am – 6:00pm
Pay: Bi-weekly
Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Recycling Advisor to join a leading waste and environmental services organization. This role is pivotal in enhancing recycling participation and minimizing contamination within local communities. As a Recycling Advisor, you will engage directly with residents and businesses through property visits, surveys, community events, and awareness campaigns. Your efforts will be crucial in educating the public about recycling, food waste reduction, and sustainable waste management practices. The ideal candidate will be confident in public interactions, passionate about environmental issues, and comfortable working outdoors across various locations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct property surveys and assessments to understand recycling behaviors and identify participation barriers.
- Engage with residents door-to-door to promote recycling and waste reduction initiatives.
- Provide practical advice on food waste recycling, packaging recycling, and general waste disposal.
- Attend community events, roadshows, and engagement activities.
- Monitor participation levels and gather resident feedback.
- Support recycling awareness and education campaigns.
- Distribute promotional and educational materials.
- Maintain accurate records of visits, surveys, and engagement activities.
- Record and report customer feedback and local issues.
- Collaborate with collections, communications, enforcement, and partner teams to address local recycling challenges.
- Contribute to the development of future campaigns through local insights and observations.

Essential Requirements
- Experience in a customer-facing role with the public.
- Background in community engagement, outreach, customer service, advisory, promotion, or sales.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build rapport and engage with diverse backgrounds.
- Experience in accurate information recording and record maintenance.
- Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office and data entry systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Capability to work outdoors and walk for extended periods.
Desirable
- Knowledge of recycling, sustainability, environmental services, or waste management.
- Experience conducting surveys or community engagement activities.
- Familiarity with CRM systems, databases, or spreadsheets.
- Training in customer service, community engagement, or sustainability.
- Experience in delivering awareness campaigns or educational initiatives.

Working Environment
- Based in Tottenham Hale, London.
- Tuesday to Saturday working pattern.
- Regular travel across the local area using public transport.
- Oyster Card provided for business travel.
- Outdoor role involving significant walking and face-to-face engagement.
- Occasional earlier or later shifts may be required to meet service needs.
- No direct staff management responsibilities.
