Job Title: RRC Area Supervisor

Type: Full Time, Permanent
Salary: £48,500.00 + 7.5% shift allowance
Location: Across all RRCs within the LEL Network

About LondonEnergy

LondonEnergy operates the second largest waste contract in the UK, handling and processing nearly 750,000 tonnes of London's waste every year. We have a dedicated team of people working across our various North London sites, making a positive difference to the environment and the local community. By processing household waste at our facilities, we produce enough energy from waste to power 80,000 homes every year and recycle 70% of items through our Reuse and Recycling Centres.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and motivated RRC Area Supervisor to provide visible leadership and operational support across allocated Reuse and Recycling Centres within the LEL Network. Working closely with the RRC Contracts Manager, you will ensure sites operate safely, efficiently and in compliance with environmental permits, contractual requirements and company standards.

You will be responsible for supporting and developing RRC Site Supervisors, maintaining high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance, managing operational resources and providing site cover where required. The role involves working across multiple RRCs, supporting continuous improvement and maintaining excellent relationships with colleagues, contractors, customers and members of the public.

The role is 39 hours per week, working across a 7-day operational rota, with flexibility required to travel between RRC sites.

Responsibilities

  • Health, Safety & Compliance: Promote a strong safety culture across allocated RRCs, ensuring safe working practices, effective traffic management, emergency preparedness, risk assessments, COSHH controls and timely completion of corrective actions.
  • Environmental & Technical Compliance: Ensure sites operate in accordance with Environment Agency permits and environmental requirements, including COTC attendance, waste acceptance controls, environmental monitoring, incident response and regulatory inspections.
  • People Management & Leadership: Provide visible leadership and support to RRC Site Supervisors and site teams, including performance management, absence and holiday management, training, recruitment needs and maintaining appropriate staffing and site cover.
  • Operational Management: Oversee day-to-day RRC operations, including site opening and closing, access and egress, service continuity, site cleanliness, waste handling, reuse collections and effective management of plant, equipment and vehicles.
  • Contractor & Resource Management: Coordinate contractors and operational activities, ensuring safe access, RAMS compliance and effective completion of works, while supporting budget control, expenditure monitoring and purchase orders within delegated authority.
  • Performance & Continuous Improvement: Support the RRC Contracts Manager with contractual KPIs, customer complaints, NLWA requests, operational reporting, Management of Change, efficiency opportunities, recycling initiatives and business improvement trials.
  • Stakeholder & Customer Engagement: Maintain effective relationships with customers, residents, members of the public, suppliers, contractors and internal stakeholders, providing operational information and resolving issues courteously and professionally.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
