Recycling Operatives
Barrow-in-Furness
£13.60 per hour
40 hours per week
Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm (30-minute lunch break, 12:00pm - 12:30pm)
Saturday overtime available at 1.4x hourly rate
Our client, a well-established refuse and recycling company, is looking to recruit 3 Recycling Operatives for their Materials Recycling Facility in Barrow-in-Furness.
Purpose of the Role
To assist the Site Management Team in the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of the recycling facility, ensuring high standards of site performance, health and safety, and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the efficient running of the site in accordance with permit/licence conditions, planning requirements, health and safety legislation, and contractual obligations.
- Carry out recycling duties, including:
- Conveyor belt operations and sorting recyclable materials.
- Positive picking of recyclable materials from tipped waste loads, focusing on larger items that could damage plant equipment.
- Support baling operations, including:
- Producing quality bales for reprocessing.
- Carrying out quality checks on incoming materials and finished bales.
- Performing routine baler maintenance in accordance with site procedures.
- Clean operational areas following the loading of recyclables.
- Complete daily operational and safety checks accurately and on time.
- Assist with the efficient turnaround of vehicles delivering or collecting materials.
- Inspect loads after discharge and report any issues before vehicles leave site.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety at all times.
- Report accidents, near misses, hazards, defects, or equipment issues promptly.
- Uphold a professional and courteous attitude when interacting with customers and members of the public.
