We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced VC / Refractive Optometrist to join a leading specialist healthcare organisation in Colchester, supporting the delivery and growth of its private patient pathways.

This is a part-time position of 9.5 hours per week, working one day on Tuesdays, with the opportunity to pick up additional shifts at other local hospitals and clinics.

The Role
As an integral member of a multidisciplinary clinical team, you will work closely with consultants and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting pre- and post-operative consultations and assessing patients' suitability for treatment
- Carrying out examinations associated with cataract surgery
- Running acute and post-operative follow-up clinics
- Accurately documenting clinical findings within electronic medical record systems
- Providing health advice and support to patients attending the hospital
- Providing first-line clinical advice and making appropriate referrals to medical practitioners where required
- Ensuring the safe and appropriate use of clinical equipment in accordance with your competency framework
- Maintaining awareness of relevant CQC requirements, policies and procedures
- Participating in mandatory training and professional development activities

Requirements
To be considered for this position, you will need:
- Current GOC registration as a fully qualified Optometrist
- Extensive experience working as an Optometrist within a refractive, high-street or hospital environment
- Experience using patient administration systems and electronic medical record systems
- Experience working towards conversion targets and other KPIs within Vision Correction
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient-focused approach with a commitment to delivering high standards of clinical care
