Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Refrigeration Engineer role based in the Manchester Area, United Kingdom. The Refrigeration Engineer will install, maintain, and repair refrigeration systems used for stability storage, biorepository operations, and controlled environmental testing, including CO2 and other specialized systems. Responsibilities include performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing mechanical and control faults, completing service and validation tasks, and ensuring equipment operates within defined temperature and regulatory requirements. The role involves working closely with on-site engineers, operations teams, and quality personnel to minimize downtime, support disaster recovery capabilities, and contribute to continuous improvement of reliability and safety. The engineer will also interact with clients and internal stakeholders in a professional manner, providing clear communication on work performed, system status, and any corrective actions.

- Strong maintenance and repair skills for refrigeration and related mechanical systems, including fault diagnosis and corrective actions.
- Experience working with CO2-based and other low-temperature refrigeration systems in industrial or laboratory environments.
- Proficiency in preventive maintenance planning and execution to ensure high equipment uptime and compliance with service schedules.
- Background in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline, with understanding of thermodynamics, controls, and safety standards.
- Committed to providing professional, responsive customer service to internal teams and external clients.
- Relevant technical qualification, apprenticeship, or degree in Refrigeration, Mechanical Engineering, or a similar field.
- Familiarity with GMP, GxP, or regulated life science environments and associated documentation practices is beneficial.
- Ability to work on-site, manage priorities in a fast-paced setting, and participate in on-call or shift patterns as required.
