Role Description
The Refrigeration Engineer role is a full-time, on-site position based in Southampton. The individual in this role will carry out planned and reactive maintenance on refrigeration systems, ensuring equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in line with company and regulatory standards. Day-to-day tasks include diagnosing faults, performing repairs, conducting preventive maintenance, and optimizing system performance, including CO2 and other modern refrigeration technologies. The Refrigeration Engineer will work closely with site teams and clients, providing clear communication on work status, ensuring minimal disruption to operations, and maintaining accurate records of all activities. The role involves adhering to health and safety procedures, participating in occasional out-of-hours call-outs, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across facilities.

- Candidates should possess strong skills in Maintenance & Repair and Preventive Maintenance for commercial refrigeration systems.
- Candidates should possess technical expertise working with CO2 and other advanced refrigeration technologies.
- Candidates should possess a solid foundation in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Candidates should possess effective Customer Service skills, including clear communication and a professional approach when working on client sites.
- Formal refrigeration or HVAC qualifications (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds) and relevant industry certifications (such as F-Gas) are highly beneficial.
- Experience in commercial or retail facilities environments, a strong focus on health and safety, and the ability to interpret technical documentation are preferred.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and use digital tools for work orders and reporting is advantageous.
