Salary: £42,000 - £46,000 DOE

Our client provides premium building service solutions to food manufacturers and distributors in the South-West. The business also operates a renewable division that provides low-carbon heating and cooling solutions to commercial and domestic customers.

They are seeking a skilled Refrigeration Installation Engineer to join a growing Exeter-based engineering business. This is a site-based role working on a variety of projects, often within the food manufacturing sector, delivering hands-on refrigeration installations in project teams or individually as needed.

The Role

As an Installation Engineer, you will work across refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, fabric, groundwork, and general fitting tasks. You will be part of a project team focused on delivering high-quality workmanship, working alongside subcontractors and liaising with site leads and clients. Joining the on-call team to support breakdowns out of hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installing refrigeration equipment including freezers, fridges, and cooling systems
  • Installing pumps, pipework, heating, and ventilation systems
  • Carrying out plumbing, fabric, groundwork, and general fitting tasks as required

  • Identifying and resolving technical issues on-site
  • Working alongside subcontractors and other members of the project team
  • Assisting with technical documentation for servicing and project sign-off
  • Participating in the 1-in-7 on-call rota
  • Supporting emergency breakdowns during weekday evenings and weekends
  • Travelling to sites regionally and nationally as required

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
