The Refrigeration Mechanic role is a full-time, on-site position based in Glasgow. The mechanic will install, commission, and maintain commercial and domestic refrigeration and air conditioning systems, including display fridges, freezers, and bespoke cooling units.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic checks
  • Identify faults
  • Carry out repairs to ensure reliable and energy-efficient operation
  • Complete scheduled preventive maintenance
  • Respond to breakdowns
  • Maintain accurate service records
  • Liaise with customers on-site
  • Follow safety procedures
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver high-quality outcomes on projects of varying scale

Qualifications

  • Strong skills in Preventive Maintenance and Maintenance & Repair for refrigeration and HVAC systems.
  • Proficiency in Troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve mechanical and refrigeration issues efficiently.
  • Good understanding of Electricity, including safe working practices with electrical components and controls.
  • Experience with HVAC systems, including installation, commissioning, and performance optimization.
  • Relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship in refrigeration, HVAC, or a related engineering field.
  • Knowledge of applicable safety regulations and industry standards for refrigeration and climate control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and system schematics.
  • Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites as required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
