Youth Impact Advert

RAM Project Worker – Helping Further Service

Permanent with Funding until March 2028

7 hours per week - Tuesday only

£26,100 per annum - £5,220 pro-rata

Location: J Q Modern, 120 Vyse Street, Birmingham, B18 6NF

About the role:

Your role will be to support refugee, asylum-seeking and migrant parents and families across the West Midlands, particularly those with No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF), by providing advocacy, information and practical support through our Helping Further Service.

We are looking for an experienced and compassionate practitioner to join our team. The successful candidate will support the delivery of our weekly Immigration Drop-In Service, helping families to navigate complex immigration, housing and welfare systems, understand their rights and entitlements, and access the support they need.

A key part of this role will be identifying immediate welfare, safeguarding and advocacy needs, providing one-to-one support, and working with partner organisations to help families reduce the risk of homelessness and destitution. You will also play a role in raising awareness and understanding of NRPF issues amongst professionals and communities.

In order to be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Experience of working with refugee, asylum-seeking and migrant parents and families.
  • Experience of providing advocacy, information, advice, casework or practical support to vulnerable individuals and families.
  • Knowledge of No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) and the challenges faced by migrant families.
  • A good understanding of the UK immigration and asylum system.
  • Experience of working collaboratively with statutory, voluntary and community organisations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage sensitively with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • The ability to manage a caseload, maintain accurate records and work effectively as part of a team.

Desirable

  • Registration with the Immigration Advice Authority (IAA) at Level 1 (Advice and Assistance), or a willingness to work towards this.
  • Experience of supporting families with immigration and NRPF-related issues.
  • The ability to speak a community language.
