HostNation is a small, effective charity with one simple mission to find friends for refugees.
We are looking for someone with personal experience of the challenges of the asylum system and rebuilding their life in the UK to join our Board of Trustees.
What difference will you make?
This role will help strengthen the relevance and impact of our befriending programme. It will broaden the range of refugee insight informing our decisions, improve how we design and deliver our services, and ensure our governance continues to reflect the communities we support. Their perspective will help us identify gaps, challenge assumptions and ensure effectiveness of our programme.

What are we looking for?
- Lived experience of displacement and a strong interest in improving opportunities and quality of life for refugees in the UK
- Good communication skills and the ability to express ideas clearly in discussions
- Reliability, responsiveness and a willingness to engage consistently in trustee duties
- A collaborative approach and openness to working as part of a supportive board team
- Very good spoken and written English

What will you be doing?
HostNation is seeking a trustee with lived experience of displacement to further strengthen refugee insight and perspective on our board. The trustee will help to guide our charity by contributing their ideas and ensuring our work reflects the needs and experiences of refugees.

The trustee will participate in quarterly board meetings (2 online and 2 in person each year), and be available between board meetings for occasional advice and consultation. They may also offer guidance to our Refugee Advisory Board and help us embed inclusive and accessible practices throughout our befriending programme.
