About The Role
The Refurb Operative is responsible for processing returned products through the refurbishment operation, ensuring products are restored to required safety, quality, and cosmetic standards. The role involves inspecting, repairing, testing, grading, and packing products while maintaining compliance with operational procedures, quality requirements, and health and safety standards.
Working pattern is 07:15 – 17:30, 4 days on, 4 days off, including weekends and Bank holidays.
Key Responsibilities
Product Inspection & Refurbishment
- Carry out visual, cosmetic, and functional inspections of returned products.
- Perform electrical safety checks and function testing where required.
- Identify defects and replace damaged, worn, or missing components.
- Refurbish products in accordance with approved work instructions and quality standards.
- Escalate any products unsuitable for refurbishment through the approved scrap process.
Testing & Quality Assurance
- Complete product testing using approved equipment and procedures.
- Accurately record test results and refurbishment outcomes.
- Ensure refurbished products meet performance, safety, and cosmetic standards.
- Support quality audits and investigations into defects or non-conformance.

Production Operations
- Follow refurbishment processes and standard operating procedures.
- Achieve daily productivity and quality targets.
- Support activities across multiple refurbishment workstations as required.
- Maintain accurate records and complete relevant system transactions.
- Assist with packing, labelling, palletising, and preparing products for dispatch.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to all health and safety policies and safe working practices.
- Use tools, equipment, and testing devices correctly and safely.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area using 5S principles.
- Report hazards, near misses, and safety concerns promptly.
Continuous Improvement
- Contribute ideas to improve quality, efficiency, and workplace organisation.
- Support training activities and development of standardised working methods.
- Demonstrate flexibility by supporting different operational areas based on business needs.
About You
Essential
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, assembly, repair, or refurbishment environment.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to follow documented processes and work instructions.
- Basic IT skills and experience recording information accurately.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to work to productivity and quality targets.
Desirable
- Experience undertaking product testing or quality inspections.
- Knowledge of electrical or mechanical products.
- Experience using SAP or other warehouse/manufacturing systems.
- Understanding of continuous improvement or lean manufacturing principles.
