Umbrella - £22,33 per hour - Umbrella

Job Purpose

As a Refuse Driver, you will be responsible for safely operating refuse collection vehicles and supporting the efficient collection and transportation of waste and recycling across the local area. You will help ensure high standards of environmental services are maintained while providing a reliable service to residents and businesses.

Key Duties/Accountabilities

  • Safely drive and operate refuse collection vehicles in accordance with road traffic legislation and Council procedures.
  • Carry out daily vehicle inspections and report defects promptly.
  • Undertake waste and recycling collection duties across designated routes.
  • Work closely with refuse collection crews to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Ensure all waste is collected and transported safely and responsibly.
  • Maintain accurate records and complete vehicle documentation as required.
  • Comply with all health and safety, environmental, and operational procedures.
  • Deliver excellent customer service when interacting with residents and members of the public.
  • Support the cleanliness and maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
  • Assist with additional environmental service duties when required.

Essential Experience Required

  • Previous experience driving large goods vehicles (LGV/HGV).
  • Experience working within waste collection, environmental services, logistics, transport, or similar environments.
  • Experience carrying out daily vehicle checks and defect reporting.
  • Good understanding of health and safety requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to delivering high standards of service.

Essential Qualifications Required

  • Valid HGV/LGV Driving Licence (appropriate category).
  • Valid Driver CPC Qualification.
  • Digital Tachograph Card.
  • Good understanding of road traffic legislation and safe driving practices.

Additional Information to Note

  • Working hours: 40 hours per week.
  • Working pattern: 06:00 - 16:45.
  • Location: Claro Road Depot, Harrogate, HG1 4AT.

Valid HGV/LGV Driving Licence
