Refuse Driver–3 Month Contract
Location: Walsall
Rate: £20.58 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract: 3 Month Contract
Hours: Up to 37 Hours Per Week
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, Ad-Hoc Shifts (Booked as Required)
Overtime: Paid at 1.5x Rate
Bank Holidays: Paid at 1.5x Rate
Summary
We are seeking dedicated Environmental LGV Drivers to join our team in supporting Waste and Environmental Services across the Walsall Borough. This role involves the professional operation of HGV vehicles to deliver a variety of environmental and waste collection services. As an integral part of our team, you will help maintain clean communities and support vital frontline services. Work is offered on an ad-hoc basis, with availability up to four days per week, depending on service needs.
Responsibilities
- Drive and operate LGV/HGV vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Conduct domestic refuse, recycling, food waste, and garden waste collections.
- Perform commercial waste and recycling collections.
- Support bulky waste collection services.
- Operate mechanical sweepers as required.
- Assist with fly-tip removal and environmental cleansing activities.
- Carry out bin deliveries and related environmental duties.
- Complete daily vehicle checks and basic maintenance inspections.
- Adhere to all Driver Handbook, MORR Code, Highway Code, and Health & Safety procedures.
- Ensure safe manoeuvring and reversing of vehicles in line with training and procedures.

Essential Requirements
- Valid Class 2 (Category C) Licence.
- Valid CPC Qualification.
- Digital Tachograph Card.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- No more than 3 penalty points.
- Previous HGV/LGV driving experience.
- Strong understanding of driver regulations and road safety requirements.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a busy operational environment.

Desirable
- Previous experience in Waste Management, Environmental Services, or Refuse Collection.
- Experience operating municipal or specialist fleet vehicles.
- Experience working within Local Authority services.
