About Downing

Downing is dedicated to delivering investments that matter - for our economy, our health, our society, our local communities and our environment. For over 40 years, our highly experienced team and our entrepreneurial spirit has driven us to seek out long-term and unique opportunities that solve challenges faced by investors, companies and society. As a certified B Corp, we take our responsibilities, to our investors, our stakeholders and society, seriously. We invest for return while always considering our impact on the world.

About the team

As part of Downing’s sales strategy we are hiring a driven, relationship-led Regional Business Development Manager with a track record of growing AUM across the IFA market to further our growth across the South West of England (Devon & Cornwall). This is a rare opportunity to join a well-established, entrepreneurial investment management business at a pivotal stage of growth - building on strong momentum across our platform, investment and network propositions.

Role and responsibilities

As Regional Business Development Manager for the South West region, you'll take ownership of the region's commercial relationships with Independent Financial Advisers, network firms and Discretionary Fund Managers. You'll be responsible for the full sales cycle - from prospecting and pitching through to onboarding and long-term retention - while acting as a trusted technical and strategic partner to the firms you support.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
