Department: Finance
Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time
Location: UK - London
Compensation: £80,000 - £100,000 / year
Description
The role:
The Regional Commercial & Procurement Lead (UK) will be a core commercial driver executing Field’s Balance of Plant (BoP) and grid connection procurement strategy across our UK BESS pipeline. You will be a hands-on commercial doer who bridges engineering specifications with sharp contract negotiation. This is a role for an energetic technical engineer and commercial negotiator who rolls up their sleeves to structure tenders, negotiate contract terms directly, and eliminate interface risks to deliver projects safely, fast, and on budget.
Key Responsibilities
Main Responsibilities
UK Sourcing & BoP Execution
- Hands-on Procurement: Own and execute the full end-to-end procurement process for UK BoP packages, including drafting RFQs, structuring tender packs, conducting bid evaluations, and driving direct price and contract negotiations.
- Commercial Engineering & Estimation: Work closely with engineering and estimating teams to challenge and optimize BoP cost models, unbundling supplier quotes to strip out unnecessary risk premiums while keeping projects bankable.
- UK Market Intelligence: Continuously map the UK construction and HV supply chain, keeping real-time intelligence on contractor capacity, material lead times, and pricing trends across UK DNOs and National Grid connections.
Contractual & Technical Execution
- Direct Contract Negotiation: Act as the primary lead negotiator for BoP and long-lead equipment agreements, negotiating robust terms under NEC or FIDIC frameworks without relying solely on external legal teams.
- Interface & Risk Control: Establish clear Employer's Requirements and boundary matrices on-site to actively eliminate interface risks between BESS OEMs, BoP contractors, and grid operators.
- Cost Feedback Loop: Build mechanisms comparing estimated costs against actual execution data to continuously refine Field’s UK CapEx benchmarks.
Stakeholder Management & Growth
- Contractor Networks: Build strong, accountable relationships with UK Tier-1 and regional BoP contractors to secure execution capacity.
- Grid & Regulatory Alignment: Navigate UK grid connection requirements (132kV / 400kV), planning constraints, and revenue scheme rules alongside technical teams.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Batteries have a big job to do. They store renewable energy for when it's needed most, reducing grid intermittency and displacing carbon-intensive generation. Without storage, renewables can't scale — and we're here to change that. We have 300 MWh operational, 300 MWh under construction, and 4.5 GWh in development.
We're a team of experts in our fields — from engineers and construction managers to traders and data scientists — who roll up their sleeves and move fast. We're curious, we share openly, and we're genuinely motivated by the mission.
Our Values
- Work for the team - We are friendly and approachable. We make time for each other, value diverse perspectives, and learn and grow together.
- Do it right - We prioritise doing things right, never cutting corners. Safety comes first, and we consider our impact on communities and the environment. We act with integrity always.
- Move fast - We’re doers. We take responsibility, deliver on promises, and get things done. FAST.
- Know your stuff - We’re curious self-starters, always learning, adapting, and improving. No question is too small. We own our growth.
