Job Description
Field Based role - North East UK Coverage
To manage a region and be responsible for the broker and introducer relationships within that region and the quantity and quality of business produced by those partners.
To support the HOS with the wider Sales and Marketing strategy for the commercial lending division.
Key Responsibilities
- To develop a strategy for delivering expected regional business levels. Managing a panel of strategic and broker partners and developing existing relationships.
- Continue to seek new introducers and develop regional distribution channels in keeping with company business plans and product proposition.
- To develop partners into profitable producers by understanding their business processes and finding opportunities to maximize business levels through training, development and marketing opportunities.
- To own and understand the dynamics of your region to ensure that the strategy is regularly reviewed, adjusted as necessary and communicated to line manager in monthly 1-1. To produce, to an agreed deadline, reports, and broker notes as requested by the Senior Management Team.
- Having a thorough understanding of our products and criteria and to be able to quickly understand the strengths and weaknesses of a commercial property deal.
- Being experts on the competition, understanding where our strengths lie and ensuring the broker partners are aware of our strengths at all times. Feedback on key market intelligence about competitors.
- Clearly communicate with broker partners on new business enquiries and on lending decisions and assisting with finding future business for Shawbrook.
- Able to develop a rationale for unusual cases and communicate opinions and views to the Credit teams for their consideration.
- To effectively manage a large panel of introducers, maintaining the relationships and driving more business from these sources via Strategic Partners.
- Assist with increasing conversions by analysing broker performance and providing training and support, where required.
- Pro-actively manage current pipeline and develop disciplines to improve on minimum conversions requirements from AIP /IMO/ SANC/COMP.
- To assist with the continued development of the product suite – gathering intel from the market on our competitors and gathering feedback from the brokers and Sales team as to what changes should be considered.
- To assist with the key messaging for our ongoing PR & Advertising campaigns and supporting, where possible, with the content and any topical areas of focus.
- To identify regional networking opportunities and events to be seen as ‘expert’ in our market. Assisting with producing market leading presentation material for both client and broker development, whilst promoting Shawbrook’s offering and position in the market.
- Understanding and delivering the brand values of the Bank and to act as an ambassador in the market.

Qualifications
Skills & Experience
- Strong awareness of Industry Sector and regulation
- Extensive field sales experience in financial services sector.
- Experience of managing a large geographic area
- Experience of selling to intermediaries (mortgage and protection products)
- An excellent understanding of the commercial mortgage sector
- An excellent understanding of mortgages and the financial services market
- Experience of working in a customer focused environment and in a small to medium sized organisation
Key attributes
Technical
- Computer literate (Advanced knowledge of MS Office suite – Excel, Word, Power-Point)
- Knowledge of TCF
- Knowledge of underwriting process/criteria requirements
- Good knowledge of compliance procedures with the mortgage industry.
- Able to read and understand financial accounts, valuations, business appraisals and credit searches.
- Understanding of the different funding options open to business clients
Interpersonal
- Products- Ability to learn new products and sectors quickly and achieve a professional level of understanding.
- Time management - Outstanding organisation skills required. Geography is vast and partners require multiple meeting support. Time needs to be organised between recruitment and development/review.
- Ability to listen and identify the right sales approach for each individual partner.
- Results orientated. Dynamic, driven and self-motivated to deliver on agreed objectives. Support will be provided but the BDM will need to take ownership for their production and region.
- Business Partnering/Commercial acumen - Willingness to challenge oneself, moving outside of traditional broker management and comfort zones. This will be needed to identify how the partner can develop their business and having the confidence to work with partner to define specific actions. This will involve helping to deliver the actions jointly with the partner where needed and to manage non-performance/delivery.
