The Role
Steer Group is looking for an experienced and commercially focused Regional Director to lead operational performance across a portfolio of sites and translate our Fit to Grow strategy into consistent, measurable results.
This is a visible, hands-on leadership role with responsibility for 10–15 Site Managers and regional operational colleagues. You will be accountable for delivering sustainable improvements across safety, customer experience, quality, productivity, profitability and colleague engagement.

You will bring clarity, pace and accountability to the region, ensuring our sites operate to consistent standards while identifying opportunities to improve performance, share best practice and strengthen leadership capability
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver the regional operational plan, aligned to Steer Group's Fit to Grow strategy.
- Take accountability for revenue, margin, costs, cash and profitability across the region.
- Drive operational excellence and consistent adoption of Group standards and ways of working.
- Use data and insight to identify root causes, set priorities and deliver measurable, sustained improvement.
- Develop and coach Site Managers, building strong, accountable leadership teams and succession capability.
- Ensure safety, quality and customer experience remain at the heart of operational delivery.
- Build strong relationships with clients, work providers, OEMs, suppliers and Group support functions.
- Lead change effectively, ensuring new processes and improvements are adopted and sustained across sites.
- Create a culture of ownership, open communication, teamwork, pace and discipline.
About You
You will have a strong track record of leading and improving performance across a complex, multi-site operational environment, ideally within automotive repair or a closely related sector.
You'll bring:
- Proven multi-site operational leadership experience.
- Substantial commercial and financial acumen, including budget and margin management.
- Experience of operational excellence, continuous improvement and process standardisation.
- A data-led approach to identifying performance issues and turning insight into action.
- Experience improving productivity, utilisation, throughput, quality, cycle time and customer outcomes.
- Significant people leadership, coaching and performance management skills.
- The credibility to influence senior stakeholders, customers and partners.
- A practical, resilient and collaborative leadership style, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Knowledge of automotive repair operations, relevant legislation and industry practices is highly desirable.
A full UK driving licence is essential. Relevant operational, automotive or business qualifications, and Lean/Six Sigma or other continuous improvement qualifications, are desirable.
